The provision of grants for the benefit of poor persons who are sick or infirm and who reside in the borough of Bury St Edmunds.
The provision of housing accommodation for respectable men and women in reduced circumstances. Age, religious opinions, or previous non-residence in Bury St Edmunds or the surrounding area shall not be a barrier to residence, but Members or Attenders of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) shall be preferred, if deemed to be eligible in other respects.
The provision of grants in the form of monthly pension payments to persons of good character, who are over 60 and who have resided in Bury St Edmunds for 5years preceding the time of their appointment.
The provision of accommodation for persons who are in need and resident in the parishes of Chevington, Fornham All Saints, Fornham St. Genevieve, Fornham St. Martin, Flempton, Hargrave, Hengrave, Lackford, Risby and Westley and neighbouring parishes.
