Local history is coming to life thanks to the creativity of pupils at Guildhall Feoffment Primary School!
Year 6 children are creating an impressive 8-foot-tall puppet of Bury St Edmunds benefactor Jankyn Smyth, along with medieval-inspired accessories, ready for this year’s Cake and Ale Ceremony on 25 June.
The giant puppet will lead a procession from the school to St Mary’s Church and then on to the Guildhall as part of the 545th annual commemoration of Smyth’s life and legacy – believed to be the longest-running remembrance ceremony in the country.
We are incredibly grateful to the pupils and staff for helping bring local history to life and celebrating the kindness and generosity that continue to benefit our community today.
