☕ Coffee, Chat & Wonderful Stories
Every week, our College Square Almshouses open coffee morning brings residents together from all our sites. It’s a lovely chance to catch up with friends, meet new people and enjoy a good old-fashioned chat over a cup of coffee and a tasty treat.
And sometimes, the conversation brings us some truly special stories…
Recently, we had the pleasure of hearing from Daphne, who shared the wonderful story of her family spanning an amazing five generations, with an incredible 48 grandchildren and beyond!
And the family tree is still growing, with the newest little addition arriving just last week! What a wonderful reason to celebrate.
It was a real pleasure listening to Daphne talk about her family and share memories as we chatted through the generations. Stories like hers are exactly what make our coffee mornings so special — bringing people together, sharing memories and celebrating the wonderful lives and experiences within our community. 🌷

🧶 Knit, Knatter & Catch Up
Once the coffee cups have been cleared away, there’s no need for the fun to stop!
To finish the day off nicely, we hold our Knit & Knatter sessions, where residents — and friends of residents — are always welcome.
Whether you’re an experienced knitter, just fancy picking up some wool and having a go, or simply want to come along for the conversation, there’s always a warm welcome. After all, sometimes the best part of knitting is the nattering!
🎬 Wednesday Film Afternoons
And then there’s Film Afternoon Wednesday! 🍿🎬
Our residents get to have their say and suggest films they would like to watch, followed by a cosy afternoon of cinema-style entertainment — complete with popcorn and yummy treats.
It’s the perfect excuse to sit back, relax and enjoy a film with friends. Whether it’s an old favourite, a classic everyone remembers or something completely new, there’s always plenty of fun (and plenty of popcorn!) to go around.
